Best results with high-contrast edges (architecture, text, etc.)
About Chromatic Aberration
- Lateral CA: Color fringing at edges, worse toward corners - correctable in post
- Longitudinal CA: Color fringing in front/behind focus plane - harder to correct
- Red/Cyan: Indicates lateral CA, common in wide-angle lenses
- Blue/Yellow: Indicates longitudinal CA, common at wide apertures
Prevention Tips
- Use higher quality lenses with APO or ED glass elements
- Stop down aperture (f/5.6 - f/8 typically reduces CA)
- Avoid shooting high-contrast scenes at extreme edges
- Enable automatic lens corrections in your RAW processor
