White Balance Tips

  • Lower Kelvin (warm): Orange/yellow tones - use to counteract blue light
  • Higher Kelvin (cool): Blue tones - use to counteract warm/orange light
  • Tint: Corrects green/magenta color casts (common in fluorescent lighting)
  • Mired: Used for filter calculations - shift is linear in mireds, not Kelvin
  • Creative use: "Wrong" white balance can create mood (warm sunset, cool blue hour)
