How to Use Hyperfocal Distance
- Focus at the hyperfocal distance and everything from half that distance to infinity will be acceptably sharp
- For landscape photography, use f/8 to f/11 for best sharpness (sweet spot)
- Smaller apertures (higher f-numbers) give shorter hyperfocal distances but may introduce diffraction softening
- Wide-angle lenses have shorter hyperfocal distances, making it easier to get everything in focus
- Circle of Confusion: 0.03mm (affects perceived sharpness based on sensor size)
Crop Factor Note
Your 24mm lens on this sensor gives an equivalent field of view to 24mm on full frame. However, the hyperfocal distance calculations above are correct for your actual focal length and sensor size.
